Joke Donné, born in 1987 in Belgium, obtained her Master’s Degree in Science: Biochemistry & Biotechnology at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
For her master thesis, she travelled to Italy, to the fashion city Milan, for half a year. There she gained expertise in fundamental protein characterization based on X-ray crystallography. After this wonderful Erasmus experience, she was asked to start a PhD at the University of Antwerp, where she could use her fundamental research skills to unravel the mechanisms behind bacterial biofilm resistance and to search for interesting therapeutic targets. With a backpack full of academic research know-how, it was time to take the step to the industrial world. She took immediately a big step, straight to one of the largest pharmaceutical companies, Pfizer, Puurs. As a Project Engineer Environmental Monitoring, she was responsible for the qualification and validation of aseptic production facilities. Furthermore, she was involved in many improvement projects based on audit reports or changes in legislation. By working in such a strict quality-driven environment, she developed an extensive knowledge in controlling clean areas (ISO-14644, Annex1), GMP documentation and all processes related to the Quality Management System.
In January 2018, Joke Donné joined the Novosanis team as Quality Control and Clinical Affairs Associate. She is responsible for controlling the execution of procedures/instructions to ensure that the quality of a product is maintained and improved. Her focus is to ensure that the product and product manufacturing are not only consistent but also in line with customer requirements. Furthermore, she is responsible for the (pre)clinical studies of the medical devices in development at Novosanis, which includes the organisation and management of clinical trials.
