Aim: The BM-SOP study (NCT02714127) evaluated the performance and acceptability of first-void urine as a sample type for the detection of HPV DNA in a Belgian colposcopy referral population.

Affiliations: University Hospital Antwerp (UZA), University of Antwerp

Summary: First-void urine sampling with Colli-Pee® in a home-based setting was preferred over first-void urine sampling with Colli-Pee® and a clinician-taken cervical sample at the clinic or the general practitioner's office. Not only did first-void urine sampling appear to be a highly preferred and non-invasive method, it also demonstrated good agreement in HPV DNA copies with reference cervical samples. This study outcome is particularly interesting as a future screening technique to reach non-participants.
