Vorsters et al, International Papillomavirus Conference Seattle, 2014 (Poster)

Aim: Evaluate a prototype of a new first-void urine collection device (Colli Pee®) compared to urine collection vials (Multi-CollectTM, Abbott).

Partners: University of Antwerp, VAXINFECTIO, Product Development (Belgium)

Results: In women, urine collected by Colli-Pee® provided more copies of human DNA than the Multi-CollectTM from Abbott. Although the difference was not significant, a similar trend was observed for HPVDNA. In men however, urine may not be the most appropriate sample for detecting HPV infection. Moreover, the Colli-Pee® device was reported to be more reliable and hygienic.
